The Bariatric Bed For You

Previously, we wrote a post describing what a bariatric bed is used for and its unique benefits and uses. The post compared a bariatric bed vs. hospital bed and informed our readers why they might need a bariatric hospital bed. Now that you know what is a bariatric bed, it's time for us to describe the different types of bariatric beds for a home that we sell.

All the beds have various sizes catering to a customer's required bariatric bed size.

The Standard Hospital Bariatric Bed

ProHeal's standard bariatric hospital mattress consists of 20 individual bladders that prevent and offer clinically preferred treatment for bed sores. The airflow runs on four accessible alternating cycles, 10, 15, 20, and 25 minutes, allowing clinicians to customize therapy. The cell-on-cell two-layer design maintains air in the mattresses lower 4" in the event of a power failure.

This hospital bed is fitted with 18 laser-size holes, providing moisture-wicking ventilation at 18 LPM. Low air loss technology creates a microclimate environment for the patient, healing their sores and skin maceration.

Added Features:

  • LED digital panel
  • Sleep technology that shuts off the hospital mattress at the desired pressure level and a lockout feature to prevent unauthorized setting changes.
  • Static mode
  • CPR valve
  • Three audible and visual alarms
  • Fowler (Seat Inflate)

The standard bed has a raised rails option and a side air perimeter

On-Demand Air Bolsters

The on-demand side air bolsters mitigate accidental patient roll-outs, reduce the risk of entrapment, and have a "quick deflate" twist release valve to allow the use of the mattress with or without the raised air bolsters.

Lateral Rotation and Pulsation Therapy

This hospital bed compressor is designed to supply healthy blood flow and comprises five unique alternating pressure cycles, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 minutes. In its treatment for bed sores, this mattress is equipped with an adjustable pulsating mode that provides periodic pressure-changing surfaces. Its lateral rotation equipment provides three adjustable turning modes and multiple turning cycle times, ranging from 10 to 95 minutes.

This hospital bed is fitted with 18 laser-size holes, providing moisture-wicking ventilation at 18 LPM. Low air loss technology creates a microclimate environment for the patient, healing their sores and skin maceration.

Added Features:

  • Constant Low Pressure (CLP) mode allows care for a patient who can not tolerate a dynamic surface but still requires an alternating pressure pad.
  • Two-stage fowler detector allows ultimate bed sore and buttocks relief even when a patient is sitting.
  • Static mode
  • CPR valve
  • Three audible and visual alarms
  • Fowler (Seat Inflate)

Ultimate Low Air Loss

To completely prevent surface moisture and excess skin heat, this bariatric bed is equipped with a 1275 LPM air compressor pump that delivers "Ultimate" Low Air Loss. It comprises five unique alternating pressure cycles, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 minutes. To top it off, these beds are equipped with gentle pulse stimulation action, delivering the most effective care in treating bed sores.

The mattress cell-on-cell design supplies constant wound and ulcer relief even during a power failure.

Added Features:

  • Auto-firm mode allows patient support and easy ingress and egress from the bed.
  • CPR twist valve for rapid deflation.
  • LED and dome key-shaped control panel for a simple interface.
  • Automatically equalizing fowler position
  • Static mode
  • CPR valve
  • Three audible and visual alarms
