What is a Patient Lift?
Patient lifts reduce caregiver strain and ensure loved ones can safely transition between environments without injuries. They provide extra stability for mobility-impaired individuals whether they’re transferring from the bed to the toilet, wheelchair to car, or any number of situations.
Don't know what you need we can help you find the perfect lift to accommodate your needs.
Selecting a ProHeal Patient Lift:
The ProHeal Hydraulic Patient Lift uses gradual movement to provide a safe and comfortable patient transfer with high-performance hydraulics. Easy to operate, affordable, and portable, this premium-grade manual lift is perfect for home care use.
The ProHeal electric lift adjustable cradle makes it perfect for people of all heights. For wheelchair, bed, chair, toilet, and other transfers. Powered by a battery pack or plug-in cord, these lifts can raise a patient with a push of a button.
Perfect for travel, the ProHeal portable lift is a lightweight lift that can be folded to fit in most car trunks and is perfect for easy storage or transportation. When open, it fits underneath most beds so it can be used even in small rooms.
ProHeals sit-to-stand lift is designed to help transfer and lift patients from sitting positions to standing positions and back to sitting again. Great for wheelchair, bed, chair, toilet, and other transfers.
There are a wide number of additional specialty lifts which are built to perfectly accommodate other transfer situations in everyday life. ProHeal Products carries everything from transfer belts, transfer sheets, and boards to shower transfer chairs to make caregiving a little easier.
What is a Patient Sling?
ProHeal patient lifts operate with the use of a sling. ProHeal slings come in a wide variety of styles and designs and are integral to ensuring a safe patient transfer. For a sling to be suitable, it needs to fit the patient correctly and be well paired with the patient lift that you are using.
There are four main categories of patient slings
Universal, Commode, Stand Assist, and Disposable.
ProHeal Products caries slings for all your needs:
ProHeal Universal Padded Lift U Sling
ProHeal Universal Full Body Lift Sling
Each of these sling types is made slightly differently to best accommodate its intended use. The exact type of sling that is right for you will depend on the type of transfers that you will be doing.
Slings are made of soft materials including fabric, mesh, nylon, and polyester. They support and wrap-around part of the patient's body, and attach to patient lifts by the use of multiple straps. Some slings feature soft linings to help cushion and protect a patient's body.
Patient slings have differing sizes and weight capacities. When working with a patient, it is important that a sling fits him or her correctly. Using an incorrectly sized sling can make for an unsafe transfer, and has the potential to rub and pinch the patient. If you are working with multiple patients, then you will need to have multiple slings to accommodate their different sizes.
Don't forget to also make sure that a sling's weight capacity is appropriate for the patient. ProHeal Slings have weight capacities ranging from 100 to 850 pounds, so you're sure to find an appropriate sling for any patient.
When choosing a sling, carefully consider what type of slings the patient lift you are using is designed to work with.
What Should I Consider When Purchasing a Patient Lift or Sling?
Caregiver strength: To what extent can the caregiver manually adjust, push, or carry the lift? If not at all, an electric lift may be a great fit.
Weight: What patient weight requirement does your lift need to accommodate?
Portability: Where will you be using your lift? Do you need to move it between rooms? Fold it down for storage? Travel with it?
Size: Given the size of your living space, can your lift maneuver around tight corners or hallways? Will you be lifting from bulky furniture, requiring an adjustable base?
Slings: Consider which slings you’d like to use with your lift: mesh, U-shaped, padded, etc.
